Shiba
African elephant (Loxodonta africana)
Female, born circa June, 1986 in Zimbabwe
Arrived on May 26, 1988 at Safari Beekse Bergen
Shiba is the matriarch of the herd of Beekse Bergen. She is very easy to recognize by her right ear: it has a huge gap.
Altough a bit nervous, she is very friendly to humans. To the other elephants she behaves herself very good. Sometimes a little quarrel with Erna, but thanks to her authority she is always the boss.
