Timber was born at the zoo of Rotterdam and moved to the zoo of Port Lympne (UK) on November 22, 1999. Three years later, on November 10, 2002, he moved to Sevilla (Spain).

After the move of Alexander to Antwerp Zoo on April 17, 2007, Timber returned to Rotterdam the same month on the 25th.

On July 20, 2010 he became father for the first time when Bangka delivered Faya.
