Pinky

Female, born in 1966 in the wild.

Arrived in Arnhem on April 28, 1981.

Pinky came with Mabel (died in 2002) to Burgers' Zoo. She lived in harmony with a third elephant, Kwimba until the construction of the Desert (1993-1994). This building was planned on the same area of some animal exhibits, including that of the elephants. They got a new enclosure, with the elephanthouse integrated in the building of the Desert.

After Kwimba moved to another zoo, the period of rest was over. Mabel died in 2002 and only one month later Win Thida came from Amersfoort Zoo. When in October 2003, Rupa joined the two ladies, the troubles began. Pinky became best friend with Rupa. Win Thida however disliked her from the beginning.

After Win Thida moved to Amsterdam, all went quiet. Today Pinky and Rupa are peacefully living together.
